Florian Salomons performed his doctorate research at the laboratory of Eukaryotic Microbiology at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands on the molecular mechanisms involved in sorting of matrix proteins to peroxisomes in the methylotrophic yeast Hansenula polymorpha. Here he got interested in subcellular organization, sorting and localization, and the fate of proteins. He continued with a postdoctoral research project at the Department of Radiation and Stress Cell Biology at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. This project was aimed to understand the in vivo regulation of the chaperone activity of Hsp70 by co-chaperones and how these processes are spatially organized within the eukaryotic cell. He works on a project to monitor fluorescent tagged components of the ubiquitin-proteasome system in living cells. Besides work, he likes to relax with a book or a movie, doing sports like running and gym, or go partying with friends.
