Martijn Luijsterburg graduated in 2003 from the Free University in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in Medical Biology. In the same year, he worked as a research associate at the Free University on the organization of bacterial chromatin in the Physics of Complex Systems Group. In 2004, Martijn started his PhD project in the Nuclear Organization Group at the University of Amsterdam working on the kinetics of DNA repair complex assembly using live cell imaging and mathematical modelling. In 2008, Martijn joined the lab of Nico Dantuma at the Karolinska Institute. In the Dantuma lab, he is studying the role of histone ubiquitylation in transcription regulation. Besides work, Martijn enjoys music, playing the drums, running, badminton and spending time with friends.
